Function of Beauty
Beginning my curly girl journey has totally turned me into a product junkie. And as anyone who has embarked on such a path can tell you, there are lots of products to try. I have found over the past several months that if I repurchase something it is very telling. For me, Function of Beauty has been that go-to brand. #notsponsored
it helps that it is available at Target too.
I have found that by keeping my basic shampoo and conditioner routine the same I have better luck determining the effectiveness of stylers I try.
If you are not familiar with Function of Beauty here is the premise….
There are 8 billion of you on the planet, each with your own hair, skin, mood, style, and preferences. So we can assume you all want to treat and care for your hair, skin, and body in the same way, right? Yeah, that seemed off to us, too.
Call us crazy, but we think it takes more than just one or two formulas to please all of those unique individuals. That’s where we come into play.
We’re throwing out old approaches and old products—products that smell the same, look the same, and are made for the same people, with the same goals in mind.
With Function of Beauty, you decide what goes into your formula (and what doesn’t) and what you get out of it. Because, who knows what you need more than you?

If you have been around the blog for a while, you know that they really align with my stance on individuality and how we all need to tackle wellness, and yes, beauty is a part of wellness, based on our own unique attributes (our constitution as you may have heard me mention).
The premise is simple: pick the base shampoo and conditioner for your style hair – straight, wavy or curly
Then select from several add-ins to customize your products to your own unique needs/desires.
If you don’t know where to even start, there is a great quiz on their site to get you started. Click here for QUIZ
I use the Wavy base and then add-in extra conditioning and curl definition and some help against frizz. You can mix and match up to three add-ins per shampoo and conditioner.

And here is a look at today’s wash day and what I used. My hair is about 50% dry in this photo and I am airdrying today.
