November 2016 Favorites

The month of November was filled with great food, amazing friends and family and a lot of football!  All of my favorite things in general – so yay November!

The other favorites this month were….

Media Favorites

This month I have two video favorites.  Both from Netflix.

The first was Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.  Obviously, if you didn’t watch the original series (well – seriously what is wrong with you?  Get on that!!!) you will probably not appreciate it as much as I did.  But I binged watched all 4 episodes and it was great to have the fast-talking, coffee-chugging, junk food-addicted duo back.  I love Stars Hollow and dream of opening a B&B in a place just like it!

The other favorite couldn’t be more different!

It is Tony Robbins: I Am Not Your Guru.  This is a behind-the-scenes documentary of the 6 day seminar called “Date with Destiny” where Tony Robbins leads about 2500 attendees on a life-changing journey.  Robbins is a well-known life and business strategist whose clients range from world leaders, business moguls, TV personalities and average people like me and you.

I have actually attended a Tony Robbins live event and even did the fire walk (yes that’s exactly what I mean – walking across hot coals barefoot).  It was an amazing experience I will never forget.  The seminar, both the one I went to and the larger one from the film, is like a cross between a rock concert, a group therapy session and a super intense self-improvement workshop. It was a great glimpse into how Tony goes about helping his clients and the transformation that happens during his events.

Lifestyle Favorites

Beauty:  Even though we haven’t been experiencing fall temperatures here in Central Florida, the humidity is (thankfully) improving.  But with that drop in humidity my skin and hair begins to get even drier.  My lips are no exception.

I struggle with dry lips all year long but I have found a great product to combat them. I really love the Christian Dior Crème de Rose Smoothing Plumping Lip Balm.  I’m on my second purchase of it and I used every single bit from the first pot I bought.  I hardly ever finish a product and repurchase it so that says something.

I apply this morning and evening and I find my dry, chapped-prone lips stay hydrated and smooth.  It’s a great product and one of my all-time favorite.

Food:  This month one of my go-to, quick-fix meals was a version of teriyaki that uses the same garlic hoisin sauce from the Asian Inspired Lettuce Wrap recipe.

hoisin-sauce

I basically take either chicken (I’ve done it diced and sautéed, dusted in flour and fried  and flattened to quickly grill) or pork and then add about 1/4 cup of the hoisin sauce to the skillet once the meat has cooked all the way.  I add some minced garlic and a splash of soy sauce and Voila!  Dinner!  I’ve served this concoction over rice and potatoes (both mashed and boiled and smashed) and it’s great either way.  Throw a quick salad together and you have dinner in under 30 minutes!

So my friends, that’s what I’ve been loving in November.  What things have you discovered this month that you now love?  I’d love to hear.
